STUDENTS SAVINGS CLUB:
Get discounts aplenty when you flash your student ID card at area businesses

Everybody knows that college students are broke, so much so that it’s become cliché to say it. To help with this situation, the MATC student senate is participating in a retail discount program, the Student Savings Club, for the third year in a row.

Student Savings Club is a national program based in Chicago. The club works with local businesses and schools to create a program to help students save money on everything from food to clothing, and give local businesses an opportunity to attract student clientele.

The program is free for both colleges and students. It is entirely funded by advertising dollars that businesses spend to be included in the program.

By presenting the card at participating businesses, students can save up to 15% on things they buy every day. Additionally, many businesses offer two-for-one deals rather than a direct discount. For the past several years, the number of businesses participating has been small enough that the complete list was printed on the back of each card. However, due to the increase in business participation, the list has moved online.

Although students will see little yellow cards advertising the program around campus these cards are not necessary to save. All students need is their MATC OneCard. Staff at participating retailers will recognize the cardholder as part of the savings program and apply the special discount.

By visiting StudentSavingsClub.com and entering their school, students can view the entire list of over 20 businesses in the Madison area that are involved and what type of discount they can get at each one.

Additionally, if there are places students would like to see added to the list, they can send an e-mail to the MATC student senate (senate@matcmadison.edu) and Student Savings Club will contact that business and see if they are interested in enrolling.
